giffgaff is a little different to your ‘normal’ telecoms company. We’re a mobile brand owned by Virgin Media O2 but run by our members (what we call our valued customers) and we’ve been awarded Uswitch Network of year for 6 years out of 7! Sound interesting so far? There’s more.

The role and the team :

We're looking for a passionate Product Manager to join the Product and Design department. You’ll take the helm of one of the key retention product teams, whose purpose is about amplifying the benefits of being a giffgaff member, so that Members want to stay with us longer. Your role will be to deliver innovative experiences that help make our members’ lives easier, all while driving business growth. You’ll set the product vision and will need to work with stakeholders across the business to bring your vision to life.

You'll need to be a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail. You'll be curious about continuous improvement for your product and understanding your end-users. You’ll be keen to embrace a “test and learn” mentality, sharing success stories and key learnings with the rest of the business. We work in an agile environment, where collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. You must be strong at communicating clearly and effectively.

Key responsibilities :

  • ●  Reporting into the Product Lead, you will guide the product team to deliver key initiatives that improve the giffgaff member experience

  • ●  Set the product strategy to identify opportunities to amplify the benefits of being a giffgaff member, working with stakeholders and considering new technologies and ways to innovate.

  • ●  Drive value creation while balancing tight resources and competing business priorities.

  • ●  Be outcome driven, taking full ownership of OKRs and provide regular reporting against OKRs for your team.

  • ●  Be proficient with data to understand the performance of your product, and be insight led when forming future plans.

  • ●  Be adept at problem solving and formulating hypotheses, with the ability to frame problems and solutions clearly and communicate them to others.

  • ●  Build strong relationships and trust with stakeholders and senior leaders, effectively communicating your road map and product mission, and influencing others to ensure the right priorities are being worked on.

  • ●  Have a test and learn mentality, constantly striving to experiment and iterate to gather user feedback at pace

  • ●  Be responsible for leading product launches and assess the post-launches performance.

  • ●  Be the voice of giffgaff’s members - immerse yourself in insights and trends from competitor analysis, user research and qualitative member feedback and quantitative data to inform new ideas and optimisation

  • ●  Explore and champion long-term plans, thinking creatively, assessing results and celebrating success.

  • ●  High levels of strategic awareness, understanding and contributing back to the business strategy in order to help drive key business metrics.

  • ●  A strong problem solver, with the ability to frame problems and solutions clearly and communicate them.

  • ●  Storytelling is a strong part of the role - being able to strongly show the progress of your product and bringing the wider company on the journey.

    Skills, experience and attitudes :

    You will be required to have an insight-driven, member-first mentality with a collaborative attitude and experience in product definition and delivery. You will need a proven ability to lead, inspire, motivate and communicate expertly.

    To be successful in this role, you will:

  • ●  Have experience as a Product Manager, working day-to-day as part of the Product team to deliver valuable change using agile design principles

  • ●  Be able to prioritise based on value and demonstrate the impact of problem-solving on business KPIs

  • ●  Be passionate about making members lives easier

  • ●  Have experience working with cross-functional teams – including Product Design, Technology, Marketing, Commerce, Finance and Legal

  • ●  Comfortable with technical conversations – initiating and understanding them

  • ●  Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence at all levels

  • ●  Confident working with ambiguity – able to set a clear product vision and get buy-in from senior stakeholders
